Christoper Shannon "Chris" Penn (born October 10, 1965 – January 24, 2006) was an American film and television actor. He portrayed Clive Cobb in Rush Hour.

Early life and careerEdit

Penn was born in Los Angeles, California, the youngest of three boys born to Leo Penn, an actor and director and Eileen Ryan (née Annucci), an actress. His brothers are actor Sean Penn and musician Michael Penn.

He started acting at the age of twelve at the Loft studio. In 1979, he made his film debut in Charlie and the Talking Buzzard. A few years after he appeared in movies such as Rumble Fish (1983), Footloose (1984), Pale Rider (1985) and At Close Range (1986).


On January 24, 2006, Penn was found dead at his Santa Monica home at the age of 40. It was revealed the primary cause of death was "nonspecific cardiomyopathy" (heart disease), with the prescription drug promethazine with codeine and an enlarged heart due to obesity being possible contributing circumstances.
