Giant (unofficially named Ai, 艾) is an immensely sized man located at the Kung-Fu Studio ran by Shih-Fu Mi and Grand Shih-Fu Yu.
Rush Hour 3[]
Physically strong and standing nearly 8-feet-tall, he appears when Lee and Carter arrive to get [insert here] from Soo-Yung’s locker when Carter walks him. The Giant then fights Lee and Carter. He then does a bow with the other students, also appearing in a blooper outtake during the credits. He is potrayed by Sun Ming Ming.
Behind the scenes[]
- This scene was loosely based on a scrapped scene from the Rush Hour 2 script where a scene where Kung-Fu Studio of kid students are featured, it would've happened between the events of the night club and Heaven On Earth Massage Parlor.
- Yao Ming was contacted for this role, but the offer was declined (Ratner said he wanted to create a scene with Yao Ming similar to that of the scene with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who was also a basketball player, in Game of Death (1978), starring Bruce Lee.)
Trivia[]
- The names of the three Shih-Fu's are Yu, Mi and Ai; which is confusing to English-speakers like Carter because it sounds like the pronouns "you, me, and I".
- During the dojo scene in which Carter and Lee fight the giant, there is a picture in the middle of the shrine behind Grand Shih-Fu Yu. The picture is that of Chinese martial artist Huo Yuanjia, a Wushu Master, and Chinese legend.
